Celebrating the stories of Wollongong women, Indigenous and non-Indigenous, Steel Gardens was a multi-media installation staged at Wollongong City Gallery in 2014. The production involved a series of live storytelling, dance and choral performances staged over a three-month period as part of a multi-media installation combining film, visual and sculptural pieces, and sound. Co-produced and presented by community artists and participants, Steel Gardens was the culmination of program activities in 2014. These activities involved multi-arts based creative storytelling engagements with diverse groups of women and children. CACD artists were Therese Quinn, Lucia Parrella, Denise Thomas, Ana Wong-Perera, and Carolyn Nowaczyk, with guest fibre artists, Lissa de Sailles and Elisabeth Hodgson.
